Artist Statement
I was a self taught artist for many years until I found formal art education at the Milan Art Institute where I learned more in one year than I could have at four years at a university. I developed my process choosing the mediums I enjoy working with the most, and found my voice during the process.
Where I live and where I travel to have a significant impact on my artwork capturing the essence of different locals and allowing those experiences to come through on the canvas whether it is abstract, realism, or pop.
My works of art are a vibrant exploration of delicate and hard lines, mixed media and textures, inks, charcoal, acrylic, and oil colors (including my favorite colors-turquoise and opera pink).
Each piece is uniquely characterized by distinct underpainting marks, intentional brushstrokes, and thick pallet knife marks creating layers of rich colors and interesting visual effects.
Among notable projects, the one the stands out is a 10 ft x 12 ft mural of the “Calf Creek Falls Lower, Utah” from a picture taken by the residence. To the delight of the owner, the mural unveiled special elements that were only revealed after the artwork was completed.
I’m a member of the Cultural Arts Alliance and Plein Air Painters of Walton County, FL.

About
Kim is an abstract realism artist surrounded by forest and living on the water with her husband. She has a Chesapeake bay retriever, 2 cats, 4 chickens, all kinds of wild animals visiting her yard, and a beautiful beach only 3 miles away. Her 3 adult children are all grown up with children of their own. In her spare time she likes to travel, drink coffee on the porch, visiting and playing cards with the family, and takes photographs for inspiration.
It was during her seventh grade art class that she first felt a magnetic pull of art. Encouraged by her art teacher to observe and feel the texture of yellowing maple leaves and rough tree bark, she found herself profoundly moved by the organic beauty of the world.
A significant milestone and confidence came as she painted in Venice, Murano, and Burano, Italy, and exhibited her work at the Instituto Canossiano San Trovaso in Venice Italy.
She continued to paint for several years and made the decision it was time to enroll at the Milan Art Institute. This elevated Kim’s skills and her artwork exponentially and is now a full time artist.
Beyond the canvas, Kim’s ambition is for every individual to own a signed original piece of artwork, reflecting her belief in the power of emotional art.
